Creating the right 3D assets can take time. Designers and artists often spend hours searching through asset libraries or manually modeling objects based on visual references.
Chaos Cosmos is making this process faster with two new AI-powered capabilities: AI 3D Model Generation from a single image and image-based asset search.
These tools allow you to either create a new 3D asset from a reference image or search the Cosmos library for visually similar models and materials. Together, they make it easier to find, create, and prepare assets for visualization projects.
The latest Cosmos update introduces two features designed to simplify asset creation and discovery:
Instead of relying entirely on manual modeling or keyword-based searches, you can now use visual references as the starting point for your workflow.
The new AI 3D Model Generation feature is available in beta through the Cosmos Browser.
If the asset you need does not already exist in the library, you can upload an image and generate a custom 3D model from it. The resulting asset can be used with V-Ray, Corona, Vantage, and Envision without requiring additional conversion or preparation beyond updating Cosmos to the latest version.
This can be especially useful when you need a specific object for a visualization or want to create an asset that is difficult to find in an existing library.

Creating a model from an image takes only a few steps:
Once the model has been created, you can inspect the geometry and wireframe in the interactive 3D viewer, rotate it, and examine the result from different angles. When you're ready, download the model and save it in Cosmos alongside your other assets.
Sometimes you don't need to create a new model—you simply need to find an existing asset that looks right.
That's where Search by Image comes in.
Instead of trying to describe an object using the right keywords, simply upload a reference image and let Cosmos find visually similar assets in its library. You can also crop the image to focus on a particular object or combine the image search with a text prompt for more specific results.

Cosmos analyzes the visual characteristics of your reference and suggests assets that match its appearance, style, materials, or object type.
Large asset libraries can make it difficult to find exactly what you need, particularly when you know what an object should look like but don't know the right terminology to search for.
Image-based search changes that process. Start with a picture, explore visually similar results, and refine the search using cropping or text prompts.
Whether you're matching furniture from a reference image, searching for a particular material, or trying to recreate the overall look of an interior, this approach can make asset discovery considerably more efficient.
The real advantage comes from using both features together.
Start with Search by Image to check whether the asset you need is already available in the Cosmos library. If you can't find a suitable match, switch to AI 3D Model Generation and create a custom asset from your reference image.
This gives you two complementary options: discover an existing asset or generate a new one.
By bringing both capabilities into Cosmos, Chaos makes it easier to spend less time searching and modeling and more time developing your visualization.
AI 3D Model Generation is currently available in early beta and is free to use during the beta period without consuming Chaos Credits. It currently supports V-Ray, Corona, Vantage, and Envision, with Enscape support coming soon.
